Reverse Osmosis (R/O) is a modern technique used to purify water to a very high level. Traditional filtration only takes out particles of a certain size, which are suspended in a liquid by using a screen or porous filter material. Reverse Osmosis offers an improvement, in that it removes contaminants, which are dissolved in the water and therefore cannot be taken out using conventional filtration methods.
